LinkedIn DM Limit Per Day: How Many DMs to Send
Ruz, Founder LeadShark · Updated Oct 25, 2026 · 3 min read
With LeadShark, you choose your own daily DM limit: anywhere from 0 to 250 DMs a day (150 recommended max). That pace applies to automated DMs sent to people who commented on your posts. Connection requests go up to 80 a day and 200 a week on paid plans, and every send is spaced out with human-like pacing, off-hours and an optional warm-up mode for new accounts.
The short answer
| Action | LeadShark limit |
|---|---|
| DMs per day | You set 0 to 250 (150 recommended max) |
| Comment replies per day | Up to 250 to connections and up to 250 to non-connections |
| Connection requests | Up to 80 a day and 200 a week on paid plans |
| Pacing | Human-like delays between actions, plus safety cooldowns |
| Off-hours | Nothing sends overnight in your timezone when you turn it on |
| Warm-up mode | A lower daily limit for new accounts that rises over time |
These limits are the same on every plan, from Pro to Apex.
Who can you DM on LinkedIn?
A normal LinkedIn message goes to your 1st-degree connections. For someone outside your network, you either connect first or use InMail. That's why comment to DM tools handle connections: LeadShark sends a commenter a connection request and delivers the DM the moment they accept. On Apex, it can also DM commenters you aren't connected with.
How to pick your number
Start lower than you need and ramp up. A sensible path:
- New to automation: turn on warm-up mode and keep the limit well under 150.
- After a couple of weeks of normal activity: raise it toward 150 a day, the recommended max.
- Only for big posts: go above 150, up to 250, when a post pulls in more requests than that, and come back down afterwards.
The number matters less than who you message. A DM someone asked for, because they commented your keyword, is a very different message from a cold pitch. Comment to DM is inbound by design, so every DM is expected.
What else keeps sending healthy
- Pacing over bursts. Spread sends across the day instead of firing them all at once.
- Off-hours. Don't send at 3am in your timezone.
- Templates that read like you. Write your own replies and DMs, and on Pro+ and Apex rotate several DM templates.
- One tool per account. Running several automation tools on one profile stacks their activity.
- Cloud, not your browser. LeadShark connects once with our extension and then runs in the cloud. More in cloud vs extension automation.
No tool is risk-free, so start conservative and ramp up.
What happens when a post gets more comments than your limit?
Nobody gets dropped. Once you reach your daily DM limit, LeadShark stops sending for the day, and commenters who haven't had their DM yet stay on the automation's list. The limit resets at midnight UTC, and the automation picks them up again inside the new day's limit. So a post with 400 requests and a limit of 150 takes about three days to answer everyone.
Your limit covers all your automations together, so two busy posts draw from the same daily number. If you want people answered faster, raise the limit for that post's peak (up to 250) and lower it again after.
